Flower Arranging Workshop

This coming Saturday is the Flower Arranging Workshop in Church from 2.00pm to 4.00pm.

Jackie Collings will give 2 or 3 demonstrations of flower arranging suitable for a small church like ours on a weekly basis. She will talk through what she’s doing and give pointers and tips. There will be no charge for the workshop and she does not want donations to charity.

She also has some photographs of previous flower festival arrangements which she has done or seen, and will give us some pointers for incorporating the theme for the Flower Festival in June 2015 into our flowers, as well as some specific ideas and possibly some props to borrow.

September Quiz Night

Good day/Evening to all in Flowton,
We would love to make the up & coming quiz night in September the best ever for raising funds for the church. If anyone has any ideas or friends in local villages who can get a team together, please let us know (it would be great to have an inter village, family competition). Would then be fun to enter their quizzes. Have sourced donations for raffle prizes. If anyone has any thoughts on this venture, please let me know.

News update

More information has been posted in the ‘For Residents’ page. The PCC has also posted some information following their meeting in June, including financial information. You can find this under the St Mary’s Church tab.

David Hale

Flowton church was filled on June 26th as villagers and friends gathered to give thanks for the life of David Hale, who passed away on May 31st. He and his late wife Lorna moved to the corner bungalow 45 years ago with their 3 sons and he developed a thriving vegetable garden alongside the road from which he kept an eye on the comings and goings with a cheery wave to all who knew him. Somehow he managed to learn everybody’s birthday! The youngsters loved his dry wit and he always had plenty of interesting conversation to offer over a cup of coffee. We will miss him greatly for he was a real character and friend. May he rest in peace.

Mary Carter.

Church Stall

The Church Stall has some excellent second hand goods on it at the moment, as well as a lot of plants donated by local villagers. There are also a number of new books for sale in the Church (in case it rains!).

The stall currently has DVDs, picture frames, plants, hair straighteners, ceramics, Henry Watson Pottery, candlesticks as well as lots more so grab a bargain. Honesty box scheme in operation.
